Time to Start Spring Cleaning - The time has changed giving us more daylight hours, a sure sign that spring is on the way. The task of spring cleaning will put a little extra bounce in your step as you anticipate what is to come, and what better place to start than your windows. Let’s get as much of that light streaming in as possible! Take down those curtains and window dressings. Wash them following instructions on the label. Clean your mouldings and blinds with white vinegar and a cotton glove or old sock. Just dip your fingers (with the gloves on) in vinegar, squeeze out any access, and wipe across the slats. When the glove gets too dusty just rinse and start again. Remove screens, wash in warm water and a drop of dish liquid with a soft scrub brush and air dry. An inexpensive homemade glass cleaner will do a beautiful job on your windows with no added chemicals. Simply mix equal parts vinegar and water into a spray bottle and use it as you would a regular cleaner. You can label your bottle, and add a drop of food colouring to distinguish it as a cleaner to children. Richard H. Butt is Broker/Owner & REALTOR® at Newfoundland Island Realty in Corner Brook.
