Stephenville -
Tyler Spencer and Nick Tucker scored two goals apiece to lead the Port aux Basques Junior Mariners to a 12-3 drubbing of the Stephenville Junior Red Wings Sunday at the Stephenville Dome.
The Junior Mariners defeated the hometown Red Wings, playing in front of their fans for the first time, by a 7-1 margin Saturday night.
Mike Farrell, John McCarthy, Adam Pynn, Jon Organ, Jamie Bunter, Josh White, Brandon Pilgrim and Josh Froude also scored for the Junior Mariners.
Brett Robinson, Greg Edgar and Kyle Pittman scored for the Stephenville representatives.
Jon Organ thought the Junior Mariners came up with a solid team effort to pull out the sweep.
He said the team played a lot better than their two lopsided losses against the Junior Cats last weekend in Bishop's Falls.
"Everyone came together better. Everyone knew we needed the two wins to get back to .500 so everyone played 110 per cent," Organ told The Western Star Sunday.
"We stayed out of the penalty box and from the net on out everybody played better."
