BAIE VERTE -

Five new infrastructure projects in the Baie Verte and Springdale areas will create 31 jobs.

Projects include renovations to the town hall in Middle Arm, the fire hall and Cape John Arena in La Scie, repairs to the Copperbelt Pioneer's meeting and activity centre in Springdale and infrastructure improvements in the Town of Pacquet.

The five projects total about $290,000 and are sponsored by the towns of Middle Arm and Pacquet, La Scie Ambulance Service, La Scie Recreation Commission, and Copperbelt Pioneers. The provincial government is investing a maximum of about $274,000 to the overall cost through the Job Creation Partnerships program.

MHA for Baie Verte-Springdale Kevin Pollard said the projects will provide long-lasting benefits to everyone involved.

"Sponsors achieve their objective of having necessary work completed, participants acquire new employment skills and the community benefits through improvements to local facilities," said Pollard in a prepared statement.

Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment Susan Sullivan said the residents of the area will benefit greatly from the improved local infrastructure.

"Our priority is to review all these employment supports with a goal of identifying ways to importance and expedite their delivery while ensuring that they are tailored to more accurately respond to local, regional and provincial needs," she said in a prepared statement.
