Flower's Cove -

A rally is being planned for Flower's Cove this Saturday to protest the elimination of lab and X-ray services in the community.

"We're counting on a good crowd coming out to demonstrate to government that there's a lot of anger and frustration," said Harrison White, a Sandy Cove resident who's a member of the organizing committee.

"Our people are very, very disturbed, angry and upset."

The 2 p.m. rally will be held on the grounds of Canon Richards High School. In the case of bad weather, it will be moved inside to the gymnasium.

Four bus owners are donating buses to transport residents to the rally from Eddies Cove East to Savage Cove; Nameless Cove to Anchor Point; Forrester's Point-Black Duck Cove-St. Barbe; and New Ferolle to Pond Cove.

The committee has written Labrador-Grenfell Health board chairman Ray Norman, seeking support for a call to reinstate lab and x-ray services. The board meets Saturday in Goose Bay.
