A Manufacturing Insights workshop designed to create awareness of the resources available for individuals to start or expand manufacturing enterprises will be held in Corner Brook on Thursday.
"Manufacturing is an important contributor to the province's economy - it creates both export and employment opportunities. For those interested in learning about the manufacturing sector they should plan to attend this free workshop," said the Honourable Trevor Taylor, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development.
In addition to creating awareness of available resources, the Manufacturing Insights workshop session is an important vehicle in profiling regional success stories. It is also a platform to strengthen partnerships by promoting collaboration and co-operation amongst stakeholders.
For example, in Western Newfoundland six metal fabrication companies have formed the Western Metal Working Network to find new markets for their products in Alberta.
The workshop is organized by the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development in co-operation with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Business Service Network and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters. There will also be presentations from ACOA, Business Development Bank of Canada, Community Business Development Corporation, National Research Council, Community Accounts, and the Getting the Message Out program.
The workshop will be held at the Greenwood Inn and Suites in Corner Brook on Feb. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A lunch will be provided. Those interested in attending the conference and seek more information, please contact Coun. Josh Carey at 709-637-2994.
