HALIFAX - A Nova Scotia MP says he was outraged when he learned a ground-handling services company at Halifax's main airport started advertising for new employees after locking out staff over a contract dispute.
The NDP's Peter Stoffer says Servisair is being "extremely rude."
Stoffer made the comments after learning that Servisair has placed a newspaper ad looking for customer service agents, ramp agents and fleet mechanics to work at Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport.
Servisair provides support for WestJet, Air Transat, Porter Airlines, Sunwing, Purolator and other airlines.
The company locked out workers at the beginning of April after they rejected the company's demand for a two-year wage freeze.
Stoffer has asked federal Labour Minister Rona Ambrose to intervene.
Servisair spokeswoman Karen Gordon said the ads were ordered last week, before a conciliation date was set for April 15, and it was too late to pull them.
