Kristen Bennett, a volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy School in St. George's, prepars the school for Valentine's Day.
ST. GEORGE’S Last week, the Grade 7 and 8 students at Our Lady of Mercy completed their mid-term exams.
On Friday, Joanne King from the Conservation Corps visited our school and gave presentations on climate change to Grades K-8.
She shared some very interesting facts with us. Did you know there is an animal called a grolar bear? It is a hybrid of a grizzly bear and a polar bear. Their climates are overlapping due to climate change and they are mating. That was just one interesting fact we learned.
Students are getting excited with Valentine’s Day being just over a week away.
We will be having a Literacy Day event that day called “For the Love of Reading.” Mrs. Sexton, our Grade 7 teacher, now has the dates set for the Grade 7-8 cultural expedition trip to St. John’s. It will take place from May 14-16 and fundraising efforts have begun. That is all for this week at OLOM.
