Hampden Howler — Hampden Academy

Good day readers ... or good evening, if you’re a late night reader? How are all of you? Are you enjoying the Olympics?

Go Canada Go.

Speaking of the Olympics, a week prior to the actual Winter Olympics, students and staff at Hampden Academy attended their own Olympic Games.

Students and staff were split into different groups and had a series of spirit challenges and games to play. During lunchtime on Wednesday and Thursday, and during one class period on Friday we all participated in activities to celebrate school and team spirit.

To start off the three-day event, students and staff were challenged to show their Husky pride by wearing school clothing or our school colours — blue and white.

On the second day, we were asked to dress up as twins. Students and staff all over the school had a twin wandering around with them. It was pretty difficult to pick one person out from another at times.

As well, we also had a Dress Like Your Favourite Country Day.

There were many students and staff walking our halls sporting red and white outfits, true Canadians eh?

Although our Olympics ended at school, we still have something to look forward to as report cards go out today. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

I’m sure all of my fellows classmates worked very hard so far this year and will have another great report card to celebrate.

Wednesday, our second parent-teacher meetings are happening. So parents can feel free to stop by the school and talk to their children’s teachers about their recent endeavours at school.

Well, readers, that will be it for this week. Enjoy your day and don’t forget to cheer along with, and for, our fellow Canadians who are competing in Sochi.
