In the schools
By Rebecca Roberts
At Stephenville High, things are finally clewing up for Easter Break. There have been many events over the past few weeks, including the girls ball hockey team travelling to provincials and the boys ice hockey team making the high school hockey finals.
The finals are to be played this week. No matter the outcome, the school is impressed and proud of how far the team has come this year.
Many students of Stephenville High also competed in the Rotary Music Festival this past week, with several of the events being held in the high school theatre. Also, the Stephenville High School Drama Group competed in the Regional Drama Festival this past weekend at Stephenville Middle School.
In other events, plans for the 2014 graduation are beginning to be finalized with the celebration less than a month away. It is to be held on May 9, and with just a little over a week to finish preparations after Easter, it is becoming a hurry to get much of it done before the break. Unfortunately, the biggest issue is wondering if there will still be snow the day the prom rolls around.
Finally, after a busy March and April, a large group of students are preparing to travel on an educational trip to Europe over the Easter break. This was organized by the high school band teacher Howard Larade and has been in the works for a little under two years.
The group, made up of 45 members, is getting very anxious to leave. They will be travelling to England, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
It will definitely be a once in a life time experience for all of the travellers.
Although it seems more likely that things would be slowing down before the well-earned vacation, it appears that things are only getting busier right up until the break begins.
