Pasadena teen Matt Walton’s painting went all the way to the finals in the National Gallery of Canada’s 2014 So You Want To Be and Artist contest, but in the end wasn’t selected as one of the top three.

Walton’s painting titled “Manmade” was one of 15 finalists in the contest and will be on display at the gallery in Ottawa until Sept. 1

The top three winners of the contest are Kevin Nguyen, Frederik Giguere and Anna Weyant.

Like Walton, Nguyen’s work made it to the final based on Internet voting, while Giguere and Weyant’s pieces were selected by an art expert to move forward.
