DUNNVILLE, Ont. - Police say they are "amazed" a skydiver escaped with minor injuries after his parachute became tangled in live hydro wires in Port Maitland, Ont.

The man got caught in a crosswind at about 180 metres Tuesday and was blown away from his landing zone at the Niagara Skydive Centre.

On the way down, the chute became entangled in live hydro wires - but the man managed to fall through without touching a wire himself.

The skydiver was able to free himself from the parachute and fall safely to the ground.

Police say the man, whose name was not released, was up and walking around before they arrived on the scene.

He was taken to hospital in Dunnville for treatment of his injuries and released.
