Corner Brook -
Four people from the Stephenville area were arrested for allegedly shoplifting at businesses located at the Murphy Square and Corner Brook Plaza retail centres in Corner Brook Tuesday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received complaints that two men had been seen allegedly stealing merchandise from two different businesses around 2:40 p.m.
As a result of the subsequent investigations, two men were located in a vehicle parked at the Corner Brook Plaza parking lot. It was determined at the time that two women in the same vehicle were allegedly involved in a theft from another business at the plaza.
Both men, who are aged 42 and 19, and a 23-year-old woman have been charged with theft under $5,000. The second woman, who is 38, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and with breaching probation.
All of the allegedly stolen items - which included clothing, electronics and jewelry - were recovered by the police.
All four individuals were released to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook Jan. 19.
