CORNER BROOK Allison Crowe has been flying a magic carpet ride these days.
The singer and musician who lives in Corner Brook was cast in the blockbuster film “Man of Steel,” and was in New York to walk the Red Carpet with the film’s major stars for the premiere.
While Crowe has been unavailable to discuss her role and being involved in the hype of the movie, she has been excited about the opportunity since she knew nearly two years ago.
“The experience of filming on 'Man of Steel' was one of the most fulfilling and insanely exciting (seriously) experiences I've ever had — if not the most,” she said in a recent press release.
She landed the role of a singer for a scene at “Cassidy’s,” according to the credit given by the movie review site RottenTomatoes.com.
Crowe was photographed by different media on the red carpet at Starr Theatre in Alice Tully Hall at New York City’s Lincoln Centre as well as the after-hours party. She was travelling back to Corner Brook Wednesday.
Meanwhile, she has also been busy curating and arranging songs for this summer’s cast of “Newfoundland Vinyl: The Flip Side.”
Crowe is the musical director for Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador’s production for the Gros Morne Theatre Festival.
She is taking 10 songs from Newfoundland’s popular music and oral traditions, and launching the album June 25. The show opens July 12 at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival in Cow Head.
