CORNER BROOK Not for the faint of heart. The Off-Broadway Players (OBP) will hold open auditions for its production “Let the Game Begin: A sAW Tribute Show.”

“Let the Game Begin,” based on the infamous horror film “sAW” by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, opens with two strangers waking up in a filthy bathroom, chained to opposite ends of the room by their ankles. To escape, they are each given a hacksaw — along with horrifying instructions.

The show contains frightening and disturbing scenes, and is graphically violent. It is an adult-rated show, and certainly not for the squeamish.

"To my knowledge, this may be the goriest — and perhaps the most technical — show Corner Brook has seen," says director Ernest Power. “OBP hasn’t done a pure horror production since 2003, with Night of the Living Dead in Black and White."

Power is seeking actors with improvisational skills, as well as those willing to give a hand backstage.

No preparations are required for audition purposes.

Auditions will take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 18-19, at 2:30 p.m. at Swirsky’s on Broadway. They will consist of cold reads of the script.

For more information, or to set up an alternate audition time, contact Power at or 640-3390.
