Stephenville -

Stephenville High was well-represented at the recent Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador 2010 Pageant by four young women.

Parinita Verma said it was an amazing experience for her as she had fun, made new friends and learned a lot.

She said it was truly an honour to be among the Top 10. She had the opportunity to give a speech and to make it to the Miss Talent finalists where she got to perform piano onstage.

"I was extremely happy to be named third runner-up in the Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant 2010," Verma said. "It was also lovely to win first runner-up in Miss Teen Talent and to receive the title of Miss Teen Photogenic," she said.

From Stephenville, Jennifer O'Quinn was named second runner-up in the Miss Teen Talent competition.

The selection of Miss Teen is on the basis of personality, academic test, fitness test, public speaking ability, and on-stage casual and evening wear competitions.

The contestants had a number of wonderful adventures including, a tour of the House of Assembly, a fitness test, visit to Saint Luke's Seniors Home, a tour, glow bowling, rehearsals and they were guests on Rogers Television's Out of the Fog.

A highlight for Verma was listening to guest speaker Miss Universe Canada Mariana Valente along with a pizza party held with Miss Teen 2009 Chelsea Squires.
