MOUNT MORIAH -
The Town of Mount Moriah will be making repairs to its town hall/recreation centre, a multi-purpose facility which serves as a venue for numerous community-based recreation programs.
The Bay of Islands community has been provided with $15,000 from the Community Capital Grant Program to assist with the work, which will include repairs to the wheelchair access to the building, as well as to help with upgrades to insulation and exterior siding.
"It is important that we maintain our recreational facilities throughout the province, as this helps to promote and increase the level of physical activity in our communities," said Bay of Islands MHA Terry Loder. "This facility is very important to residents as it serves a multitude of purposes, and these upgrades will ensure continued service for the people of the Town of Mount Moriah well into the future."
Mount Moriah is among more than 30 communities which will receive funding to purchase equipment and upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through the program.
The Community Capital Recreation Grant Program is an application-based program that provides funding of up to $15,000 to assist municipalities and recreation commissions to improve their recreation and sports infrastructure.
