Corner Brook -
A broadcasting career spanning more than 30 years has come to a halt. As of Tuesday morning, announcer Chris Green no longer works for CFCB.
Familiar to many as the voice of the western senior hockey teams, Green was also the news supervisor at the Corner Brook radio station.
According to the CFCB website, Green has had assignments with the Swiss-based Olympic Radio Television Organization and freelanced for CBS Radio. He was also the broadcast voice of the Cape Breton Oilers of the American Hockey League.
Ian Balfour, Steele Communications' general manager for western Newfoundland and Labrador, declined comment on the reason Green is no longer with the organization, citing a policy of not discussing human resources publicly.
He said Steele is "actively searching" for a candidate to replace Green in the senior position in the newsroom and the booth.
"We value, obviously, his contribution," Balfour said. "... We valued his commitment to the community and the radio stations, and we wish him the very best in the future. The community requires a continued voice and we're not going to let down the community."
The Star was unable to reach Green for comment.
