Corner Brook -
Western Health is planing to go ahead with H1N1 influenza A vaccination clinics this weekend, despite not being sure they can inoculate everyone who shows up.
An interview was not available as of press time, however Western Health sent a prepared statement saying clinics will be open in Benoit's Cove, Meadows, Piccadilly and Jeffrey's, on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., to offer local access to the vaccine for priority groups.
"We plan to keep clinics open as scheduled for Sunday, even if we run out of vaccine," the statement said. "At the scheduled clinics, for those who meet the current priority group criteria, we will be taking people's name and contact information so that we can schedule them for appointments when we receive additional vaccine."
Meanwhile as of 8 a.m. Friday there were four new admissions to hospital in the western region for influenza-like illness.
In total, there were 17 patients in acute care, four of them in intensive care and two of them on ventilators.
