Woman facing assault charge from Halloween night incident

A 20-year-old female resident of Stephenville will be appearing in provincial court on Jan. 11, 2010 to face a charged of assault with a weapon.

Cpl. Judy Morgan of the Stephenville RCMP said the weapon used in the offence was a knife; however, the older female allegedly assaulted was not injured in the attack that took place at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 in the former base section of the town.

The incident was among a total of 50 recorded in the Bay St. George district detachment during the three-day period of Friday morning to Monday morning, which included five reports of uttering threats and five other assaults.
