The vehicles, a silver Toyota Matrix and silver Hyundai SUV, were traveling in opposite directions when the crash occured at around 12:45 p.m. near the turn-off to the Corner Brook Plaza.

Members of the RNC Patrol Services were assisted by the Corner Brook Fire Department and a number of paramedics in removing passengers from their vehicles. The Toyota was driven by a 40-year-old female resident of St. Anthony with a four-year-old passenger, while the lone occupant in the other vehicle was a 50-year-old female resident of Corner Brook. All three were taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital to be treated by what the RNC described as non-life threatening injuries.

The charges are expected to be filed under the Highway Traffic Act and, while the investigation is ongoing, alcohol was not expected to have played a factor in the accident.

The RNC said it will release more information as it becomes available.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or have further information are asked to contact the RNC’s Corner Brook headquarters at 637-4100.

Alfious. Wouldn't you agree the better question would be to ask you how your comment relates to the story?

A poor old moose crossing the highway at night doesn't stand much of chance if this accident is an indication of what we have driving on our highways. Sad as it may seem though, this ''is'' an indication of what we have driving our highways. Maybe the government should put up a fence in the middle of all of our highways. It would do wonders to cut down on vehicle / vehicle collisions. I'd suggest a cull on some of these drivers but it might not go over so good. And who want's to bet the forthcoming charges will be cell phone related?
