It's an interesting take you have on it. Wells at the time, did the only thing that could be done to stop the province from going bankrupt. Everyone has different takes on things like Danny being the BEST premier in NL. If you look back, Danny's success is born from the work of Peckford nd Wells. Peckford struck the original oil deals and held true to get a deal done. Wells prevented the province from going bankrupt, stood up to Quebec & Ottawa at Meech Lake and bestowed a sense of pride. Tobin was opportunistic, but he did do away with denominational education but was here for the wrong reasons. We now go through a rough patch because the province is bankrupt, no industry, pretty much poverty stricken and people get anxious for a change. Williams comes along, and voila - we have a saviour. He can simply ride the wave of disparity, discontent and poverty, capitalize on the price of oil and voila - the newfoundland messiah is born. People make me sick with their he's better than him attitude. Politicians by nature are opportunistic. get used to it.

As for door knocking, it's no surprise that Watton didn't get in. He was at my house begging for my vote, which happens to be on the odd-numbered side of Carter Avenue....which turns out to be in Humber EAST! He was campaigning in another district! This young man is no doubt smart and educated, but he should have bput his marbles to work and printed off a list of his constituents before he ran nilly-willy all over town.....sad.

Humber West (Tory) voters are as stun as me ars e. Now that the Tories won that seat with a backbencher, they will spend in other districts to win or hold those seats and Mr. Granter will be quieter than a mouse with no vocal chords

3200 votes cast. That seat should go unfilled until enough people give a krap.

Given Granter's performance at the debate, it will be interesting to see what follows during the rest of his "service". Interesting, not surprising. A candidate who is reluctant to take the time to familiarize himself with the topics to be presented??? Shouldn't he already be familiar with the topics? As to his door knocking ability, I personally didn't see him at my door, nor did I see any of the other candidates either. Guess now that Danny's gone, the good times are too. God help us all. Fear not, other provinces! Won't be too long before Newfoundland reclaims its have not status once again!

Very happy to see the people of Humber West have elected the right candidate again. For some reason, which cannot be explained, this district seems to be able to elect the right person for their area time and again. After having the most powerful political entity ever to enter provincial politics as their representitive ,they have wisely chosen an intelligent ,caring ,responsible person to represent them.Congratulations to Mr. Granter and his team on their first electoral win. I am expecting many more.

What did you really expect given the huge majority currently held by the Provincial PC party? The result would have been a PC win had Watton been the PC candidate and Granter the Lib candidate.
