The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a 38-year-old Corner Brook woman with assault with a weapon and common assault.

This morning at approximately 6 a.m., RNC Patrol Services responded to a complaint of an assault at commercial property in the Mount Bernard Avenue area of Corner Brook.

As the result of the ensuing investigation, the woman was arrested for allegedly hitting another woman with her purse and spitting on her.

The victim was not injured in these assaults.

The accused has been held in custody for a court appearance at provincial court later today.

The fact that she wasnt injured means nothing. if i came at you with a knife...and you werent hurt, should i not be charged with assault with a weapon? anything that CAN cause injury is a weapon. a purse can cause an injury. I dont see that the police justifiably get a bad rap. im glad theyre there. and ive been caught doing things in my lifetime too. the police dont make as assault, steal, do drug, break and enter...or whatever. they just catch us when we do

You are comparing a purse to a knife. lol "the police dont make as assault, steal, do drug, break and enter...or whatever. they just catch us when we do." Why you doing all those things? Are you a troubled individual?

When ever a law is made the police seem to stretch it to it's very limit. It was a purse FFS, the lady did not even get an injury. An assault charge should be suffice but no they have to make it look as bad as possible. No wonder the police get such a bad rep.
