STEPHENVILLE CROSSING  A 24-year-old resident of Nova Scotia who was picked up in Stephenville Crossing on Tuesday facing several charges including possession of a prohibited weapon was in provincial court in Port aux Basques Wednesday afternoon for a bail hearing.

He was also charged with two counts of breaching probation and one of breaching an undertaking.

Those charges relate to him possessing the weapon, which police wouldn’t disclose due to the matter being before the court; as well as breaching conditions of keeping the peace and being of good behaviour.

Court officials in Stephenville hadn’t received the result of the bail hearing at office closing time on Wednesday.
