CORNER BROOK — A 16-year-old boy may be facing criminal charges after a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of O’Connell Drive and Elizabeth Street that sent occupants of the other vehicle to hospital Tuesday evening.

The teen was apprehended by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary shortly after he had fled the scene of the accident, which was reported to police at around 6:50 p.m.

The occupants of the struck vehicle received minor injures and were released from Western Memorial Regional Hospital after being assessed and treated.

According to the RNC, the investigation is still ongoing to determine whether charges of hit and run and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence or without a valid insurance policy will be filed against the youth.
