JEFFREYS — A fire that destroyed a cabin in the early morning hours of Monday near the mouth of Crabbes River in Jeffreys is being investigated as "suspect" by the Bay St. George RCMP.

According to police, the cabin was completely destroyed in the blaze and there was no insurance carried on the property.

Sgt. Cathy Whitehead said the owners report the replacement value of the structure would be at least $10,000.

Up to Tuesday afternoon, police hadn't determined a cause, but Whitehead did say the fire is suspicious in nature.
