Around 9:30 p.m., Royal Newfoundland Constabulary patrol services checked a vehicle on the grounds of Memorial University's Grenfell campus.
A small quantity of what is believed to be marijuana was recovered from the vehicle.
The teen was detained by police and released to the custody of his mother. The RNC says charges are pending under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Also, around 6:15 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred on Humber Road in the area of Coleman's supermarket. Patrol services and the Corner Brook Fire Department responded to the scene. There were no injuries, but damage to both vehicles was extensive.
As a result of the investigation at the scene a 18-year-old man from Corner Brook was issued a summary offence ticket under the provincial Highway Traffic Act for moving a vehicle when unsafe.
