Donald Benoit, a 52-year-old Kippens man, has been released on an undertaking after being charged with assault, uttering threats and forcible confinement from an incident on Wednesday in Kippens.

Police alleged he confined a woman for several hours on that date, but it wasn’t reported to police until Thursday morning.

He was released on the undertaking when he appeared in Stephenville Provincial Court on Friday afternoon. He’ll be back in court Oct. 1.
