The owner of a pit bull that killed a small poodle-terrier in St. John's last October was found guilty today in provincial court of a charge under the provincial Dog Act for failing to tether and pen his dog.
Jason English, 32, will be sentenced on Thursday.
Crown prosecutor Bill Howse indicated he may seek to have the court order that English’s dog be put down as part of the sentence.
Judge Colin Flynn, however, said that might not be a necessary step as English has since made efforts to better secure the pit bull.
English was charged following the incident Oct. 6, 2011, outside George Town Pub when English’s pit bull attacked the smaller dog. The dog suffered severe injuries and had to be euthanized.
Several witness took the stand during the trial describing an horrible incident.
English admitted it was his dog that attacked the smaller dog, but said the rope and latch securing the gate had been removed, allowing his dog to get free.
Flynn said English did not do enough to safely secure his dog, and that it was only after the incident that he installed chain and a bolt lock on the gate.

But he's da Man , we must all stand in awe of him, give him free food and transportation because we should all know who he is and show respect ! Even the Judge can feel it...LOL
