CORNER BROOK Jeffrey Loran Lavallee has reportedly been given eight months in prison for fleeing from police while under the influence of alcohol in late August.
Lavallee pleaded guilty on Aug. 28 to flight from police, failing the breathalyzer and breaching a court order that was issued in November 2011.
The charges stem from an incident three days prior to the pleas. The RNC in Corner Brook had abandoned its pursuit of Lavallee when he failed to stop for the police and proceeded to leave city limits eastward on the Trans-Canada Highway.
The RNC had been responding to a report of a possible drunk driver.
Lavallee was arrested by the RCMP three hours later when he crashed the vehicle around 180 kilometres away near Parsons Pond on the Northern Peninsula.
He was sentenced in provincial court in Corner Brook Friday afternoon. The Western Star was unable to officially confirm the sentence with the court registry as of press time, but a source that was in the courtroom reported he was given eight months in prison.
