CORNER BROOK — Keith Cormier is vying for the position of Western Region vice-chief at the first Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nations election.

As someone who has over 25 years experience as leader of a national financial firm, as well as a background as a certified coach in human relations, Cormier believes he has the skills necessary to move the newly formed band forward.

Cormier retired from full-time work in May, something he hopes will give him the time necessary to devote to the position.

Running under the motto “Transparency, Integrity and Responsiveness,” Cormier said part of his goal is to make programs and services available to all members of the band, as well as strengthening ties with aboriginal groups throughout Atlantic Canada.

“I am running in this election for our people and the many generations to follow,” Cormier said .

The election is slated for October 23.

Yes, Keith Cormier is the man who lived next to the guy who had over 200 cats in his house, he tried for years to get some help for this person before the situation imploded. What would you do if your neighbor had over 200 cats and the smell of cat feces was overpowering? Try putting yourself in his shoes before your judge. I think Keith would make a great representative for the Qualipu band. He's a good person.

Just wondering if this is the guy who cared so much about the man with all those cats?
