Boy charged after alleged assault with a brick

Police had filed an assault with a weapon charge against a Corner Brook teen who allegedly used a brick to attack another boy Friday.

CORNER BROOK  The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is continuing to investigate an alleged assault of a teenage boy by another teen with a brick in Corner Brook this past Friday night.

At around 8 p.m. the RNC responded to a call from an employee at the Colemans grocery store on Caribou Road that a male youth had entered the business with a head injury.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with allegedly assaulting another teen with a brick in Corner Brook this past Friday evening.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it responded to a complaint from an employee of Colemans grocery store located on Caribou Road that a male youth had entered the business with a head injury.

The investigated indicated the 14-year-old boy had been assaulted with a brick by another person of the same age.

According to police, both of the teens knew each other.

The injured boy was taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital by ambulance, where he was treated for the head injury and released.

The boy suspected of the assault was located in the area and arrested. He was charged with assault with a weapon and released to the custody of his parents.

He is scheduled to make his first appearance in youth court Dec. 5.
