CORNER BROOK — A 19-year-old man from Corner Brook has been charged with three criminal offences after he allegedly tried to cash a cheque reported stolen from an elderly woman two years ago.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary laid the charges after an investigation into a complaint received from a business on West Street on Sept. 11 of this year.

An employee at the business said a man had tried to cash a personal cheque.

The man has been charged with forgery, uttering a forged document and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was released from custody and will appear in  provincial court in Corner Brook on Oct. 30.
