CORNER BROOK A Curling area resident says he saw a coyote in the same area near where a neighbour’s cat was killed by one recently.
Eli Kelloway lives on Clifton Avenue, a small sideroad off Allen’s Road and close to where Edgar Burton lives.
Burton believes it was a coyote that attacked and wounded his nine-year-old cat in his backyard on Allen’s Road nearly two weeks ago.
The cat had to be euthanized because of the severity of its injuries.
Kelloway said he was watching baseball when he saw the coyote in his wooded backyard around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.
“I’ve seen coyotes before and I know what they look like,” said Kelloway.
Kelloway is concerned about just how safe the woods between Allen’s Road and nearby Georgetown Road are if they’re being frequented by these wild canines.
“A lot of school kids walk the trail through the woods between Allen’s Road and Georgetown Road,” he said. “I think people should be aware that there are coyotes around and that they should be cautious.”
