Man dies in ATV accident near Piccadilly

According to the RCMP, the man died from his injuries in hospital early Thursday morning.

A 29-year-old man has died from injuries suffered in an off-road vehicle accident near the town of Piccadilly.

According to the Bay St. George RCMP, the accident was reported shortly after midnight Thursday morning and the man died at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville.

The investigation is continuing and involves the RCMP Vehicle Collison Reconstruction Unit and Traffic Services.

The cause of the collision is still not known and police are encouraging any witnesses or people with knowledge to contact the RCMP with any information they may have.

The RCMP would like to remind the public that ATVs and off-road vehicles are prohibited from being operated on the province's roads and highways and such activity should be reported to police or Crime Stoppers.
