Youth charged with assault with a weapon to have bail hearing Wednesday

A girl who allegedly tried to assault a woman with a knife Saturday remains in custody after a court appearance Monday.

CORNER BROOK —  A 12-year-old city girl charged with assault with a weapon has been remanded into custody as a result of a disturbance on Curling Street on Saturday afternoon.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the youth had allegedly attempted to assault an adult woman with a knife.

She is also facing charges of breach of undertaking and breach of probation.

She appeared in court this morning but neither the Crown nor the defence were in a position to conduct a bail hearing at that point intime. A bail hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Both females were known to each other and no injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.
