CORNER BROOK The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says it has now arrested two men in connection to a violent robbery in Corner Brook on Dec. 31.

Earlier this afternoon, the RNC said an 18-year-old man was scheduled to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook this afternoon on charges of robbery with violence and breach of probation.

In a separate press release issued shortly afterwards, the police said that a 20-year-old man has also been arrested and charged with robbery with violence. The older of the two men was expected to make his first court appearance either this afternoon or Friday morning.

The men were both arrested earlier today as a result of an investigation into a complaint received by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on Jan. 3.

A 20-year-old man reported to police that the younger man had assaulted him and robbed him of a sum of money on Dec. 31.

The victim and both of the accused all knew each other, according to police. The RNC also reported that the victim was treated for injuries and released from Western Memorial Regional Hospital.

Police said the investigation into this matter is continuing and are asking anyone with information about it to contact the RNC or Crime Stoppers.
