There was nothing of any value left after a fire destroyed a cabin in St. David’s on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.
ST. DAVID’S — A police investigator could not determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a cabin in St. David’s on Wednesday evening.
The Bay St. George South Volunteer Fire Department received the call around 7 p.m., and by the time they got to the location the building was already engulfed in flames.
RCMP said a neighbour noticed a glow from the area of the building and went to see what was causing it and discovered the fire, then called the fire department from a nearby home.
There was nobody in the cabin, which is owned by a Stephenville resident.
The 24-foot by 36-foot structure was completely burned and the fire investigator was on the scene on Thursday morning.
The owner told police the last estimate on the building was a value of $30,000, however more work has been done on the cabin since that time.
While it was known that some insurance was carried, police didn’t know exactly how much as of Thursday afternoon.
