Newfoundland Hydro is reporting power outages all across the province this morning.

The company said via Twitter that the  outages are due to a transmission line problem in Bay d'Espoir.

Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Stephenville and Port aux Basques are all affected.

Schools in some areas have been closed for the day, while others are planning for late openings.

There's no estimated time on when the power will be restored.

According to the Newfoundland Power website, virtually every part of the island it services has lost electricity this morning.

Pasadena and Marble Mountain in western Newfoundland  are apparently among the few places that do still have power. In fact, Marble Mountain posted on Twitter that it is open for business.

The outages are being attributed to severe weather conditions in eastern Newfoundland and power restoration times are still being assessed.
