CORNER BROOK  The young girl charged with trying to stab a woman in Corner Brook last weekend has been denied bail.

The 12-year-old, who also has outstanding criminal charges at provincial court in Stephenville, has been in custody since her arrest last Saturday.

She has been charged with assault with a weapon and breaching conditions of probation and an undertaking she was subject to at the time.

A bail hearing was held in provincial court in Corner Brook earlier this week, and Judge Wayne Gorman rendered his decision on the matter Friday afternoon.

In denying her bail, Gorman said her release from custody could lead to her committing another offence and constituted a danger to the public.

Her matters will be called again Monday.
