CORNER BROOK — Bobsleds will replace vehicles on Corporal Pinksen Memorial Drive on Feb. 17 when the Corner Brook Winter Carnival’s third annual Cook’s Quest event takes over the street.

Contestants will race in their homemade, two-person bobsleds. No power propulsion of any kind is permitted, nor are inflatable devices. Each bobsled must have basic steering and braking systems, as well as fixed rear skis or runners and team members must wear helmets.

Organizers, the City of Corner Brook and Rugged Edge, are challenging corporations to get involved and use the race as a way to engage employees in a team-building activity.

Registration gets underway at 11 a.m. and the race is scheduled to start at noon.

First, second and third place winners will be awarded cash prizes, and Rugged Edge will donate a prize and select a winner for the most creative bobsled design.

Food and refreshments will be available in support of the Victorian Order of Nurses.

A complete list of rules, registration form and an event waiver are available at cornerbrookwintercarnival.ca. The deadline to register a team is Feb. 13.
