At about 7:20 p.m., the RNC was called to a disturbance inside a home in the Curling area of the city.
Mary Lewis is charged with assault against a 35-year-old woman, and assault with a weapon against a 32-year-old man. It is alleged she stabbed the man, who was treated at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for what police described as non-life threatening injuries.
The female victim sustained minor injuries, police reported.
Lewis, sporting a black eye, appeared in provincial court in Corner Brook Friday afternoon. Crown attorney Michael Fox was not willing to release her at the time, and had the matter set over until Monday afternoon for a chance to review the file and take a stance on her release. He also said the investigation was ongoing.
The RNC remained on the scene throughout the day Friday. Pieces of yellow caution tape cordoned off the entrance to the residence.
Meanwhile, during the investigation, a 53-year-old Corner Brook man was arrested and charged with obstruction. He was held in custody overnight and remained in custody Friday.
The RNC criminal investigation division and forensic identification section are continuing to investigate.
