CORNER BROOK Police have located a Corner Brook woman reported missing Wednesday morning.
The 39-year-old was the subject of a press release issued by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary shortly before noon.
The RNC said the woman had been missing since late Tuesday night and the authorities were concerned for her safety.
Shortly after, the RNC confirmed that “a person” had been located and the RCMP were called in because the area where the person had been located was outside of the RNC’s jurisdiction.
The scene was at the Pinchgut Lake Restaurant and Convenience Store, roughly 15 kilometres west of the city on the Trans-Canada Highway Wednesday afternoon. A car matching the description of the missing woman’s car was in the parking lot and the woman was found a short distance away from the car.
An RCMP officer at the scene said the woman had been taken to hospital.
The investigation was turned back over to the RNC, but police would not comment on the woman's condition or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
