Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case have made it to the top 16 of CBC's promotional  Searchlight contest.

The song “Thick as Thieves” is a peek into the band's new album, expected to be released this spring.

The Searchlight promotion involves people voting for their favourite entry. Downey and his band  managed to gather enough votes to be named Newfoundland and Labrador’s representative on the long list of 24 other acts from across the country.

The winning artist will be featured in a CBC Music video session and will receive $20,000 in music equipment courtesy.
