NORTH RIVER — The parent of an elementary school student was arrested in North River after a "disturbance" at the school on Tuesday, police say.

RCMP in the Trinity Conception Distirct were called to All Hallows Elementary around 2 p.m. after a report of the incident.

The RCMP say a subsequent investigation into the matter resulted in the arrest of a parent of one of the students from the school. The parent is now facing charges of assault, uttering threats and causing a disturbance.

Police say there was no reason to believe the safety of any of the children at the school was compromised at any point during the incident.

The RCMP realeased no further details about the nature of the distrubance at this time.
