The province will allot $227 million over next three years to build a hospital in Corner Brook. Construction will begin in 2015.
The provincial government announced the plans this morning at a news conference attended by Premier Kathy Dunderdale, Health Minister Susan Sullivan and area MHAs.
Next week's provincial budget will include money for further design and planning. The total cost of the project will run between $500 million-$600 million.
The hospital was announced in 2007. In 2010 the province committed to starting construction by summer of 2012. But despite spending $20 million on the project in the last couple of years, construction has not been ready to start.
The site between Cpl. Pinksen Memorial Drive and the Lewin Parkway has been cleared and shaped, and water and sewer extended to it. However, the design for the facility has yet to be decided and the province has been reviewing a master program report on the hospital.

Well, if you want to throw around the hyperbolic "probablies" : this is probably the most transparent, duplicitous, contemptuous piece of (re-run!) bush league vote-buying in the history of Newfoundland...and that's saying something.
