CORNER BROOK  The Department of Fisheries and Oceans announced Monday that salmon rivers would be closed in zones three and four as of sunset Tuesday.

The rivers closed from zone three include: Wild Cove Brook, Western Arm Brook, Middle Arm Brook, Southern Arm Brook, Baie Verte River and tributaries and Woodstock River.  Zone four closures include: Burlington River, Indian River, West River, South Brook, Tommy’s Arm River, Northwest Arm Brook, Western Arm River, Leamington River and Charles Brook.

DFO reported that extremely low water levels combined with high water temperatures contributed to the closures of rivers in the area but rivers are scheduled to re-open once water conditions return to normal.
