CORNER BROOK Following the resignation of Dwight Ball, who is pursuing the leadership of the Liberal party, the opposition caucus selected Eddie Joyce to fill the position of Opposition Leader.
"I’m thrilled to take over the position as Opposition leader," stated Joyce in a press released issued early Thursday evening. "It’s a responsibility that I take very seriously and am looking forward to continuing to serve the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the residents of my district, the Bay of Islands.”
Joyce recently held the senior positions of Deputy Opposition House Leader and caucus whip. He has also held various positions throughout the Liberal caucus since 1989.
As a result of the transition, critic roles will also change, but will be announced at a later date.
"I’m humbled to be taking over this position from Mr. Ball who diligently and effectively held Government accountable for their actions," stated Joyce. "I strive to do the same and help ensure that the voices of the people of this province are heard."
