Two men charged with theft of gas, breaching probation

CORNER BROOK  Two young men from St. George’s were arrested near the Blomidon Golf and Country Club in Corner Brook after police responded to a complaint of theft of gasoline early Monday morning.

The call to the police came in around 3:45 a.m. and the suspect vehicle was located near the golf course.

A 19-year-old and a 20-year-old have each been charged with theft. Both of them were also subject to probation orders and were each charged with two counts of breaching probation.

The younger of the two was also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Bay St. George detachment of the RCMP. He was held in custody to make an appearance in provincial court in Stephenville in relation to the warrant.

He was released and will appear in provincial court in Corner Brook on the theft and breach of probation charges at a later date.

The 20-year-old was subject to a justice undertaking from the court in Stephenville and was charged with breaching that undertaking as a result of Monday morning’s incident. He was detained and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook today.
