CORNER BROOK A man with outstanding court issues in St. John’s and Alberta is in custody for allegedly assaulting a woman in the Rocky Harbour area.
Kenneth Wagman, 39, was arrested by the RCMP Monday and was charged with assault and breaching an undertaking in relation to the incident, which involved a woman known to Wagman.
Wagman, who is of no fixed address, has two outstanding breaches of an undertaking before the courts in St. John’s stemming from alleged violations of an order prohibiting him from consuming alcohol and contacting a certain person.
There is also a warrant for his arrest issued by a court in Alberta.
Wagman made an appearance in provincial court in Corner Brook Tuesday afternoon. Crown attorney Ed Ring told Judge Kymil Howe he would be opposed to Wagman’s release.
A bail hearing has been set for Wednesday morning.
