KIPPENS — Debbie Brake-Patten has thoroughly enjoyed serving the residents of Kippens as councillor for the past five years and is seeking a seat on council in the Sept. 24 election.
During her first term as councillor, she worked extensively on the town’s sewer project and said to date gas tax money is being used to finalize a plan to utilize the Stephenville sewer treatment system as a regional facility.
She said once government funding is approved, the facility will be equipped to handle septic waste from the town and then Kippens will work on the collection system.
This past year she was appointed chair of finance and said she worked diligently to keep the mill rate low and not compromising the everyday operations of the town.
Brake-Patten sees a significant increase in traffic on Kippens Road and it gives her much reason for concern. She said the town is in desperate need of a by-pass road for safety and future development and she said this should be dealt with immediately.
